Once Upon a Fold: a smiling open book standing on green hills under the sun

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2026

Once Upon a Fold collects nothing. Nothing about you or your child ever leaves your device.

What we collect

Nothing. No accounts, ads, analytics, tracking or third-party services. The app sends no information to us or anyone else.

What stays on your device

A parent can choose to add these. They stay inside the app on this device and are deleted when the app is deleted.

Purchases

Extra books are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details or Apple Account. Only a grown-up can buy, behind the parental gate.

Camera, microphone and photos

The camera is used only for Star moments and Storytime Theater, after a parent turns them on. The microphone is used only when a parent records narration. Photos is used only when a parent picks a face photo or saves something.

Children

Because the app collects no personal information, it is built to meet COPPA and the App Store Kids Category rules. Buying books and sharing outside the app sit behind a grown-ups-only gate.

Changes

Any update to this policy will be posted here with a new date.

How do I get back a book I bought?
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchases. Books shared with Family Sharing appear automatically.
How does my child become the star?
Tap Be the Star on the bookshelf, type a first name and, if you like, add a face photo. The photo never leaves your phone.
How do I remove a name, photo or clip?
Clear them in Be the Star, or delete clips in the Star moments gallery. Deleting the app removes everything.
Why does the story draw itself?
On iPhone Duo the page draws as you open the phone. Open it slowly to watch. Closed, you can read on the front screen.
Can I change the language or voice?
Yes. Settings has nine languages, the character voices, and the option to record your own.
A book was bought by mistake.
Apple handles all payments, so request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
